Halifax is growing. New buildings, new people, new neighbourhoods. With all that new,  questions pop up about what kind of place Halifax is becoming and who gets to shape it. Design is at the centre of all of it. It always has been. But the conversation about design — across disciplines, across sectors, across the city — hasn't had a home.

Halifax Design Festival is that home.

We are building a four-day festival that brings together designers, architects, craftspeople, educators, manufacturers, curators and the public to celebrate what is being made here, and explore what it means to design for this place and this community.

This is not a festival about design in the abstract. It is about Halifax. It is about all of us.
