Call for Venues — Halifax Design Festival 2027
What is the Halifax Design Festival?
We are building a four-day festival that brings together designers, architects, craftspeople, educators, manufacturers, curators and the public to celebrate what is being made here, and explore what it means to design for this place and this community. The inaugural festival takes place April 22–25, 2027 on the Halifax Peninsula.
We are looking for host venues - people, businesses and organizations that have space to offer where our participants can hold their events and exhibitions.
-
Venues are at the heart of how the festival comes to life. We are looking for spaces across the peninsula willing to open their doors to designers, studios, and creative practitioners who have a project to share but are looking for the right place to show it. Host venues can be retail spaces, offices and lobbies, restaurants and cafes, galleries, cultural spaces, vacant storefronts, workshops and studios.
-
We match your space with one of our festival participants whose project is a good fit for what you have to offer. You are welcome to share any parameters you have around the type of event or work you would like to host. Festival events can take many forms including:
Exhibitions and installations
Talks and workshops
Open studios
-
Being a host venue means being recognized as an official part of the festival — part of a network of locations that people move between over four days. Every host venue is included in festival marketing materials, the printed festival guide and map, and the HDF website. Beyond that, it means opening your doors to new visitors, connecting with the local creative community, and being recognized as a supporter of design and culture in Halifax.
Interested in hosting?
We would love to hear from you. Expressions of interest are being accepted until October 13, 2026.
